Social Life
No other city can rival SouthBank's unique mix of laid back late night bars, live music venues or its eclectic mix of dance, indie, pop and alternative clubs.
Vodka bar, Belgian brewery or plain old 'two pints of lager and a packet of crisps' pub, there's a decent place to drink on almost every corner in SouthBank. From hip new haunts to celebrity hang-outs, there's always a new place to discover.
Theatre is at the heart of SouthBank's cultural scene. SouthBank's own theatre and arts venue, Contact, recently won the Art04 Award for outstanding achievement.
There are more than 2 theatres in the city, ranging from 30-seater arthouse venues to larger playhouses. The Royal Exchange Theatre is alive with engaging mainstream theatre most nights, while The Palace and The Opera House host the big shows like Chicago and Miss Saigon, touring out of Brisbane. Smaller venues cater for more contemporary productions.
